Ever since the premiere of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master Brennan Lee Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with extensive world-building, a diverse cast of heroes, and a exciting storyline showcasing celestial beings, demons, and dark forces expanding in influence within Dol-Makjar.
Warning: Spoilers for the third episode of Campaign 4 are included.
The Combat-Oriented Party Revealed
The third episode finished on a major cliffhanger and presented the first table of heroes who will branch out from the primary party to begin their separate journey, separate from the additional parties.
The Soldiers table consists of Teor Pridesire (played by Travis), Thimble (Laura), the strong-willed figure (the cast member), the cleric (Sam), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie).
Dividing the Cast
Considering a large ensemble, it was obvious from the beginning that maintaining everyone at one table would be unworkable.
Hence, the opening chapters of this story serve as an Overture, connecting the characters’ stories before dividing into three separate parties: Warriors, Planners, and Seekers.
What Defines the Warrior Group
As described by Brennan Lee Mulligan, the Soldiers table is for players who prefer a traditionally charged fight-heavy narrative style where peaceful solutions are rare.
At first glance, characters like the hesitant healer the cleric might appear unsuited, but the events of episode 3 show why these particular heroes are perfectly fit for the Soldiers table.
Motivations for Departure
To begin with, the group has a clear idea where to proceed after a intense first encounter with the enemy group.
Casimir of Thjazi—whose passing started the narrative’s action—exploited The Crow Keepers for his selfish purposes, invading the secret base, assaulting the rogue, and swiping all the enchanted items to dispose of.
The traitor then paid off his liabilities and ran away to a Halovar stronghouse in the northern region, beyond the urban center, with Teor’s brother pursuing him.
Character Drivers
Secondly, each adventurer has a personal reason to depart Dol-Makjar:
- Thimble, as Thjazi’s partner and best friend, seeks vengeance.
- The knowledgeable figure knows the region and warns that it is a hostile place.
- The strong character and Wicander, having defied his house’s orders to eliminate the fighter and instead freed him, have nowhere else to go.
- However, their status as important members in House Halovar could help the team enter locations they normally couldn’t.
- Furthermore, The grateful character swore a life debt to The savior for his rescue and will now follow him anywhere.
Fugitives
Finally, all of them are wanted by the powers that control Dol-Makjar for a range of causes, making lingering locally no longer safe:
- Thimble and The hero are notorious outlaws.
- Tyranny and The cleric betrayed the influential house and the legion of demons they are partnered with.
- The fighter is marked for death by House Halovar.
This means them no alternative but to journey toward the northern region in quest for Casimir.
Upcoming Developments
Based on the latest episode’s post-show segment, we learn that the combat party won’t be around the following episode, leaving the other eight participants to round up the Seekers and Planners groups.
Audiences can anticipate learning which adventurers will be assigned to which table in the season’s last Overture episode, streaming live on the upcoming Thursday.
